Background Information

Thank you for considering Cypress Bend Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to be a part of your healthcare team. Dr. Stanford and his surgical team understand that researching and visiting a surgical office can be a stressful time in you or your families lives. Our goal is to help alleviate as much stress as possible and help you navigate the events of your first appointment, insurance processing, pre-operative period, and post-operative care.  

A brief background of the profession: After completing dental school, an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon (aka: OMS or OMFS) completed 4 to 6 years of additional and extensive training involving both outpatient and inpatient advanced head and neck surgery and advanced adult and pediatric anesthesia training.  Dr. Stanford, as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, manages a wide variety of problems relating to the head and neck regions with a specific focus on the tissue of the oral cavity and facial anatomy. Dr. Stanford practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery). This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with surgical intervention and focuses on optimal patient comfort. Dr. Stanford can also diagnose and potentially help improve facial pain and correct facial injuries, and fractures.

Dr. Stanford and staff are trained in multiple types of sedation ranging from deep sedation (Intravenous (IV) sedation) to conscious sedation. Patients are carefully and continuously monitored during and after surgery in our new state of the art surgical facility. 

Surgical Staff

The surgical staff at Cypress Bend Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery are experienced, certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants, who assist in the IV sedation and surgical and implant procedures.  The surgical assistants have participated and completed the Anesthesia Assistants Review Course presented by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). This program focuses on performing medical evaluations, the pharmacological aspects of anesthesia, as well as the methods of patient monitoring and management of emergencies.  All of our team members are CPR certified.

There are also administrative front office staff that are well versed in oral surgery coding and insurance policies.
